Blood Ties pits former police detective Vicki Nelson against zombies, ghouls, and dark powers in a dark but strangely familiar version of Toronto. She finds an ally and romantic interest in Henry Fitzroy, whose 450-year existence includes such roles as "royal bastard" and "vampire". The series is based on the popular series of novels from Canadian writer Tanya Huff.
